Teacher:

Student:

Members of our leadership team mentioned that a pressing concern is how to keep students motivated during remote learning. We all know that if it has not already, soon the proverbial novelty will wear off and then we will need to come up with ways to keep students engaged in learning. As a school, with the help of our PBIS Committee, we will work on some large ideas and incentives, but one thing that can be very motivating for students is to set some tangible goals. This is a great time to teach students the intrinsic value of setting goals and reaching those goals.
For example, student goals can be about how they are doing with remote learning, organizing their workspace, being on Meets on time without being reminded. If they meet their goal, you could give them 30 seconds to share something (appropriate😊) with the class. When everyone meets their goals have a 30 second virtual dance party.
Remember that you don't have to stress about the exact minutes of live time or practice time. You are professionals and you know what students need. We have changed to where of your teaching, but that does not erase all you know about kids.
Feel free to put in the comments, anything that you have used as a small in class incentive that might work for others as well.
Everyone check out the great ideas Angie came up with in her PBIS email the other day!
